Rennes-Le-Château revisited
Nearly two years after promising Raymonde that I'd take her back to Rennes-Le-Château, I took the four girls and the twins' friends (who are also twins), yesterday.
It was a beautiful sunny day with not a cloud in sight.
We visited the museum in the Villa Bethania and the Tour Magdala. In the corner of the garden of the villa, you can enter the first of Saunière's two towers. This one in the picture above is known as the "Glass Tower" because it has the greenhouse on the top. It was once full of tropical plants and little animals, but in the picture I took, there are no longer any plants and the only animals or little monkies were my children and their friends!
Isabelle and Raymonde are of course, the little monkies, although later they were little angels or butterflies flying above the wall and the mountains. I find it a shame that there are no longer any plants in the greenhouse. It now seems rather harsh and 'cold,' but not literally, of course; it was extremely hot in there. You could feel the heat rising as you mounted the narrow, spiral, stone stairway.
From the greenhouse you walk out on to the raised walkway. It is said that Saunière's body was placed here before the burial, so that the mourners could file by. It is also said that each mourner plucked a tassel from his robe.
The Tour Magdala is at the end of the walkway. There are wonderful views from the top of this tower. I was lucky to have the tower to myself for some time and was able to contemplate the fascinating mystery of Saunière and Rennes-Le-Château, Saunière's visitors that had been there before me, and of course look at the breathtaking views.
For more photos of Rennes-Le-Château, you can look at my previous post about our trip there, or there is an official site dedicated to this subject here.
I must now go and rest. Due to a bad fall on the stairs yesterday I am in pain and feeling unwell. Nothing too serious. Nasty bruises in places that can't all be shown to other people, cuts and grazes and a muggy head (due to me jarring my spine, I think). I have nothing broken but the stairs now have a broken step!
I'm off to repose.

Sarah

HAVE YOU READ THE NEW BOOK ON THE DA VINCI CODE MYSTERIES
THE SECRET HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY ISBN 978-1-84529-763-3
The book investigates the claims of Dan Brown's The Da Vinci Code and investigates the relationship between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the 2000 year old mystery as to how the Church of Rome suppressed the marriage of Jesus. An interesting case is made to name the biological father of Jesus as recorded but hidden in the scriptures. The educational years of Jesus are investigated and his education as a ‘faith healer’ under the teachings of the Essenes who were part of the Egyptian establishment. The symbolic legacies from the Pharaohs are today still to be seen in our churches. The marital status of Jesus to Mary Magdalene is covered in depth with the history of their descendents who fled the Holy Land after the crucifixion and lived out their lives in France. A Chapter on the intrigue of the Rennes-le-Chateau mystery outlines how the descendant’s of Mary Magdalene were integrated into the French nobility. Lateral thinking in a chapter on Alchemy puts forward a case that Saunière, the priest at Rennes le Chateau got his wealth from alchemy but the author uses the devils advocate to suggest that an alternative theory is that he was just blackmailing the Church of Rome.
‘THE SECRET HISTORY OF CHRISTIANITY’ then follows the trail for the descendants of Jesus and moves to the crusaders and the origins of the Knight Templars and how their political arm; the Priory of Sion manipulated the Crusaders and are still with us today. The narrative covers the French suppression of the Templars and the Cathar people in the south of France which then follows through into investigations into the Holy Grail. The links to the Templars in Scottish history and the hidden secrets of Rosslyn Chapel are outlined.

Hello Malcolm,
Thank you for bringing your fascinating book here to share with us.
I'm going to be returning to Rennes-Le-Château this summer and will look out for your book.
I've begun delving into such "history" and seeking the truth. As a Christian, I am unable to find a denomination that I fit into or that fits me, and I am sure that the "Christianity" that we have before us today, is nothing like Jesus envisaged.
I must get on with some work here, so I will say no more now, but I'm very glad that you came here to share your book.
Angel cuddles,
Sarah
